During the often frenetic pace of the holiday season, our stress and tension levels often begin to ramp up. Whether it is due to family or financial pressures, or the increased busyness of our environments, we all tend to get a little stressed out at this time of the year. It is so important that we each take time for ourselves to recharge, enliven our inner resources for stress management, and rest. After all, only when one’s cup is full can one be fully there for another.
The profoundly restorative practice of Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a fully guided meditative practice that release all types of muscular, emotional, and mental tension. On this journey, you will be guided through a series of awareness exercises, loosening and smoothing stress by delving deep into your nervous system, and exploring the tremendous powers that lie in the deeper layers of your subconscious mind.
Yoga Nidra is practiced while laying on your back or other comfortable position, nestled into props and blankets. It is different from sleep because you are still aware and consciously relaxing your mind and body. Come with anything you would like to make yourself as comfortable as possible, including blankets, pillows, eye masks, even a teddy bear! Lightly weighted eye pillows will be on offer so you can completely commit your eyes to rest.
This practice is for anyone who is interested in relaxation, meditation, or releasing that feeling of being “knotted up” inside. Whether you are experienced in meditation, or brand new, this practice will leave you feelings deeply rested and recharged.
