Homeopathy

Homeopathy looks beyond the labels of disease to cure their causes rather than merely their symptoms and it stimulates the body’s own natural healing powers to bring health, vitality and well-being. It does not treat superficially by just driving away the symptoms but heals the patient from within.

Homeopathy is highly individualised and based upon a holistic assessment. As well as the patient’s actual complaint and conventional diagnosis, the following factors may play an important part in medicine selection, especially in chronic disease:  the patient’s constitution, emotional and mental make-up, the way the patient responds to physical, emotional and mental influences/stress in his/her life, the patient’s personality, temperament, genetic predispositions and any strong family history of particular diseases.

Homeopathy is an effective alternative to antibiotics in infectious diseases, producing no toxic side effects, often bringing about rapid recovery. Viral infections are also very well treated with homeopathy. In addition, homeopathy is effective for a variety of complaints occurring in children, including behavioural problems.

Other medical conditions successfully treated are: skin diseases such as acne, boils, eczema, psoriasis, warts; musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, osteoarthritis, sciatica, bursitis and fibromyalgia; allergies, frequent infections; tension headache and migraine; heartburn, gastritis, constipation, intestinal conditions, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease; frequent colds, sinusitis, tonsillitis, cough, asthma and respiratory infections; emotional conditions such as depression, anxiety, insomnia; menstrual disorders, premenstrual syndrome and many other conditions besides those listed where homeopathy is found to be effective.

Homeopathy is safe. Unlike other medication, homeopathic medicines are non-toxic and harmless and do not have any adverse side effects.

Patients unable to use conventional prescription drugs due to side effects can often safely use homeopathic medicines. Homeopathic medicines are natural, prepared from minute amounts of herbs, minerals and other natural products. Their quality and safety are assured by the national medicine agencies based on European Union legislation and European Pharmacopoeia requirements.

The European Committee for Homeopathy (ECH) represents all medical doctors with an additional qualification in homeopathy, organised in 40 associations in 25 European countries.

Homeopathy is very popular in Germany where much of the research is done. It is actually even more popular in India where over 100 million people depend solely on this form of medical care (2). Further, according to an A.C. Neilsen survey in India, 62 percent of current homeopathy users have never tried conventional medicines and 82 percent of homeopathy users would not switch to conventional treatments (3).

Curcumin -Turmeric

Curcumin, a yellow-pigment substance and component of turmeric (Curcuma longa),  exhibits anti-inflammatory activity. Extensive research performed within the past two decades has shown that the  activity of turmeric is due to curcumin, a diferuloylmethane. This agent has been shown to regulate numerous transcription factors, cytokines, protein kinases, adhesion molecules, redox status and enzymes that have been linked to inflammation.

The process of inflammation has been shown to play a major role in most chronic illnesses, including neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, autoimmune and neoplastic diseases.

The current review on the link below provides evidence for the potential role of curcumin in the prevention and treatment of various pro-inflammatory chronic diseases.

These features, combined with the pharmacological safety and negligible cost, render curcumin an attractive agent to incorporate into your health program.

Raw Sauerkraut

Raw sauerkraut contains lactobacilli bacteria, one of the better-studied types of probiotics.

Sauerkraut and its juices are made from naturally fermented cabbage. In this ancient method of food preservation, dry salt is added to shredded cabbage, which causes the cabbage to release juice containing lactic acid, preserving the cabbage.

Sauerkraut juice, due to the fermentation process, is rich in natural lactic acid, which inhibits the growth of undesired intestinal bacteria and encourages the growth of good bacteria. This makes sauerkraut juice an excellent choice for treating sluggish bowels and poor digestion. Drinking this tart juice not only benefits your body’s digestive process, but it also acts as a laxative, helping to prevent constipation.

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that may help improve digestive function, lower your risk for antibiotic-associated diarrhea and possibly help with lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease, according to the University of Florida Extension.

A 1/2-cup serving of sauerkraut has about 20 calories, 1 gram of protein and 5 grams of carbohydrates, including 3 grams of fiber, or 13 percent of the daily value. It also provides about 10 percent of the DV for iron and 25 percent of the DV for vitamin C, as well as significant amounts of vitamin K. Fiber helps lower your cholesterol and blood sugar levels and decreases your risk for constipation and other digestive issues. You need iron for forming red blood cells, vitamin C for wound healing and vitamin K for blood clotting.

The difference between Attars and Essential oils

When I do a massage, I love using Attars for the emotional body aspect of healing, as well as essential oils for the physical body.  Sandalwood especially is a relaxing oil that can be used to ease depression, tension, and exhaustion of the nervous system.

What is the difference between an attar oil and an essential oil?

Ittar (Hindi/Urdu), also known as attar, is an essential oil derived from botanical sources. Most commonly these oils are extracted via hydro or steam distillation. They can also be expressed by chemical means but generally natural perfumes which qualify as ittars are distilled with water. The oils are generally distilled into a wood base such as sandalwood and then aged. The aging period can last from one to ten years depending on the botanicals used and the results desired. Technically ittars are distillates of flowers, herbs, spices and other natural materials such as baked soil over sandalwood oil/liquid paraffins using hydro distillation technique with deg and bhapka. These techniques are still in use today at Kannauj in India. This is one of the oldest natural fragrant materials, nearly 5000 years old.

Ittars have special medical value and they are generally classified based on their effect on human body such as warm ittars’ such as musk, amber and kesar (saffron) are used in winters, they increase the body temperature. Cool ittars such as rose, jasmine, khus, kewda and mogra are used in summers and have cooling effect on the body.[9]

There were many varieties of Attar which could be used at different times of the year. Some of the popular fragrances used in the winters were warm notes of the Hina that were prepared from Saffron and Musk. A few examples of the warm Attar included Amber, Musk, Oud, and Saffron. They were used to increase the body temperature during cold seasons. Cool Attars were used in summer to bring some cooling effect on the body.

My favorite is  Sandalwood Sandalwood is known to have a calming effect when meditating and is in much demand as incense. In the ancient Egypt, most of the temples were built from Sandalwood.

It is a relaxing oil that can be used to ease depression, tension, and exhaustion of the nervous system. It improves the general health of a person if the resins and barks are inhaled. Other medicinal uses include; It helps to stop vomiting It cures a dry cough when applied on the chest It excites the senses. It prevents travel sickness. It has curative properties when used as skin ailments.

The Science of Stretch and Acupuncture

An informative article by Helene M. Langevin

The Science of Stretch via Acupuncture

“During chronic inflammation, myofibroblasts can drive an excessive deposition of collagen, and the increased tissue tension can result in the development of tissue contractures that restrict full range of motion.

This response is also thought to play a role in the development of some types of tissue fibroses and cancer. Indeed, fibrotic, or scarred tissues, become stiffer, and cancer cells have been shown to spread more easily on fibrotic matrices.

Researchers at the University of Heidelberg found in 2008 that connective tissues contain sensory nerve endings that can transmit pain when these tissues are stretched in the presence of inflammation.8 Until then, it had not been clear whether connective tissue had its own sensory nerve supply capable of generating sensations. Subsequently, ultrasound studies in my laboratory demonstrated that the connective tissues that surround the muscles of the back are, on average, thicker in people with chronic low back pain.9

People with low-back pain show a decreased gliding motion of dense layers, suggesting that a fibrotic process could cause the decreased mobility.

A twisted acupuncture needle creates a localized stretch by gripping the underlying connective tissue. This effect can be observed as a “tenting” of the skin as the needle is pulled out.

Iridology

What is Iridology?

Iridology is the science and practice of eye analysis revealing a person’s relative state of health.  The study of the iris provides information on genetic predispositions, inflammation, toxicity and stresses, providing clues to potential health problems.

In this way, Iridology can be of tremendous benefit in preventing disease before it manifests, utilizing the tools of nutrition, therapies and lifestyle to direct the body into a higher state of health.

Your Iridology assessment includes a complete health analysis as well as recommendation for bring your individual body into a higher state of health with more energy and enthusiasm for life !

Iridology Can reveal irritation and Inflammation

Iridologists examine the iris for signs, color, and the overall composition which is a genetic blueprint much like that of a fingerprint, which gives information about the predispositions of one’s health.  This allows us to take precautions or make suggestions for possible ways of preventing health issues from manifesting.

The structure of the iris fibers or design is a genetic clue as to potential health issues. Although most signs may never become an issue unless something happens via lifestyle or diet (i.e. hard physical activity or inadequate nutrition) to create the possibility to manifest, but the iris shows it is a potential.

If the fiber looks really white raised and swollen, then it is very likely the person may be experiencing irritation, inflammation or pain in the area of the body represented by the white swollen fibers. Often where there is inflammation there may be a low grade infection.

Iridology in itself is not an actual treatment. It is a non-invasive method, often used by homeopaths, naturopaths, herbalists and other natural health practitioners to determine a required treatment plan.

*******************************************************************

History and Use of Iridology

Iridology has increasingly continued to be researched, studied and documented throughout the European Countries and Russia, with a majority of the research coming from Germany, where Iridology is used by Physicians as a means of identifying genetic health tendencies and current states of the body systems.

Today Iridology is viewed as an alternative medicine, however it is becoming more and more recognized and accepted as a valuable tool in the world of health awareness, and dis-ease prevention. Iridology provides vital information, and insight, into possible causes of one’s health challenges allowing further ability to address the necessary treatment.

Using Hot Stone Massage along with Tuning Forks for Healing

Using Hot Stone Massage along with Tuning Forks for Healing

Treat yourself to a warm relaxing gentle “Healing Session” using Tuning Forks along with Hot Stone Massage

Georgina starts the session by using gentle warm relaxing Stones across the shoulders and back, allowing the stones to warm the muscles and tissues while she incorporates a specialized healing massage to release all tight muscles in the neck, shoulder and back.

After the Hot Stones massage relaxes the neck, shoulders and back, she then places the tuning forks upon the meridians or areas of the body that are experiencing pain and inflammation, and the vibration stimulates blood flow and healing in a way that is very similar to what acupuncture needles do, except that this method is very gentle, soothing and relaxing, without needles 🙂

It has been incredibly helpful for clients with neck pain and strain, shoulder pain, and back pain, and most people report sleeping better than they have in years.

Everyone who has experienced it has found it incredibly enjoyable and relaxing and feel that their muscles have been released from the tightness and tension, and they do not want to leave the massage table 🙂
